etc, august

in as long as i've been doing poster/stickers/stencils/etc i've never caught anyone taking down or buffing my stuff. city or slasher or otherwise. for that matter i've never seen any graffiti in the process of being painted out. it's just there one day and a grey buff the next. phil r from the internet sent me this photo his friend morgan oyster took of one of my pieces getting painted out.

wood block stickers

made the three hour drive to a city that has forever felt like a trap, that years down the road i'm starting to recognize the full potential of. the plan was to paint a mural that i estimated at 16 hours. three days later and it's still not finished, but obligations brought me back to houston. hopefully within the next few weeks i'll be able to go back to finish.

when i got back home the new wes eisold book 'deathbeds' was waiting for me, paypaled from PA.

good luck.

as well as finding this new houston graff/art zine courtesy of JEWS and company

and bomit.com has organzined a big bandanna themed group show that i was invited to join. i actually finished mine a while back but have been waiting until after the opening to post any pictures. october 5th at winter street, i believe. in general themed shows and 'open call' shows suck, but i think this one is going to prove otherwise. more information and a full list of artists involved is on their site.

weeks, weeks, years

to the horizon.
'i stared at the sun.. for hours and hours....'

i maintain

did some re-arranging around the studio. came across some more damaged prints from the 2005 mixture show. this one of the pills i was really proud of. even if it's pretty hard to read.

dead moth

shot screens for a couple of new pieces. haven't gotten around to printing yet. maybe next week.

holding on

to things past.
watching the bayou from the bridge.

haven't kept up well with correspondence.
gocco printed these on the fronts of pre-stamped post cards. trying to catch up.

arts houston magazine ran a review of the domy show. who was it that said it doesn't matter what they say, but how much? i can accept that the impetus for the article probably had more to do with yar's work than my own. houston art types really seem to enjoy what he does. i'll ride it either way.

click on the picture to blow it up to a read-able size.

momentum vs motivation. staying busy in the studio.
new print 23"x35".
acrylic on birch panel.

this is the studio by the way.

did a 24"x36" acrylic on paper run of the new prints in an edition of 36 for the streets and other venues. decided to take some for a walk.

took advantage of wall space and routes less traveled to get up some of the other more recent work, too.

return to..

steve and lee wanted to get hooked up

helped myself to a roll of labels from the bulk dept at the grocery store a while back

finally put them to use

put some new stuff up. felt more like maintainance than getting up. but gotta get that new out there.

of course some standards along the way

sometimes it's good to get out of the city for a day. i'm liking taking pictures of trees almost as much as taking pictures into the sun.

finished a new zine. more photos, fragments, and recycled crap. get into it. first run of 40 with screened cover.

and on and on
