current television

the piece PR!MO did for current television / current.com finally went on the air. or a slightly re-edited version. changed to mostly showcase aerosol warfare, but give up still sneaks in. GIVE UP on tv? fuck.

i don't know the air dates or schedule, but check the current site or just watch cable all day and maybe it will come up.
to see the original version of the video check out the april 2008 section of the blog under the title 'video'.
thanks again PR!MO.

the road to nowhere leads to me

is that how the song goes? lost my constitution and drive in brooklyn. about a week into 22 dates with fight pretty and she rides. spent my time behind wheels and merch tables across the country enough times over. paid my dues in vans and unloading trailers. obligation and guilt aren't feelings i choose to invest any time in. best of luck on the rest of the ride guys.
threw these posters together last minute before striking out. pretty fucked up really. didn't have time to arrange the photos myself, so the images are stills from richard kern's "hardcore: volume 1". should have never made them. don't appropriate other peoples' art for your own benefit or design. shows a real lack of integrity. printed i think 45. check the availability on remaining dates of the tour at myspace.com/fightpretty. i didn't keep any.

stickers and stencils. bathroom mirror scribes. no matter how many or in what city aren't worth documentation. drinking nyquil from fingertips. going snowblind raging until noon. topless barely legals passed out on dirty warehouse couches. all have been seen 100 times over on other blogs way hipper than this. returntothepit.com has live photos of the show in providence better than any i could be capable of.

the high chief practice space in brooklyn. not the she rides/daughters/chinese stars practice space in rhode island.

nick's cool german shepherd drawing.

lack of real productivity or realization on tour forced me out once i got back home.

ryan hooked it up.

back to new york in a week or so for my installation at the firehouse. the address is in the previous post. or texasfirehouse.org. the show is called 'repetition' and opens on the 28th. come by if you're in area. maybe some better pics next time around.

immediate relevance: two more new prints, abandoning sleep, fight pretty tour with she rides, fight pretty tour poster, neurosis 'a sun that never sets', deathwish being almost sold out of the 'lonely days & wasted nights' book, new york in june, melatonin, crows feet, etc. etc. etc.

marfa

didn't really know anything about marfa other than the aluminum JUDD sculptures. always wanted to see them so when mark flood got a residency through the chinati foundation it seemed like the perfect time to finally check it out. finding out that nick and lane were already making the 10 hour drive and that i could ride with them made it all the better.

mark's studio was huge and through the residency had an opening to show what he'd been working on during his time in marfa.

the favorite read 'publicity shunt' but my photo came out shit.

mark has been a big supporter of WILL BOONE and GIVE UP and, unsolicited, he put some of our work in one of the rooms of the studio. pretty incredible to have a default show in the biggest art destination in texas.

this is pretty much all you can see for miles and miles. west texas. no country for old men.

with random shit like this along the way

shot rolls and rolls of the same thing half frame.

art bloggers take pictures of their food. punchlines that taste like flat tab and cocaine make these dares easy.

not really the ideal place to try to get up. the desert. occupational hazards. two border patrol agents and a state trooper. and other excuses for questionable ability lead to small and sloppy rollers.

pretty good times all together. saw some things i never thought i would. especially in a remote west texas town with a population of only 2000. jonah freeman, justin lowe, & alexandre singh put together the most intense and amazing installation at ballroom called 'hello meth lab in the sun'. www.ballroommarfa.org. the photos could never do it justice. and the nate lowman, agathe snow, & aaron young show at united artists ltd. www.unitedartistsltd.com.

thrasher/hatefuck

i somewhat sporadically put together zines of leftovers and various other images under the name HATEFUCK. i've posted about it on here before. the latest, although not necessarily recent issue, number 3, was just reviewed in the may issue of THRASHER.

PR!MO has been dealing with the releases and contracts to get the video he put together for current.com onto current TV. things are looking good. just waiting for the date. did this installation in his office.

never been a proponent of photocopied posters. but it is what it is. ran off some 23"x35"s of this WTL poster on the large format printer at the behest of willow from HATETANK. i don't know if this really has anything to do with the original intention of this blog/site.

shedding winter

DTS ran this warehouse for a while. there's too much real estate to fuck with spot jocking and crossing out. not to mention my respect for the stranglehold DTS has had on houston for the past 10 or 12 years. but when the spot got buffed the I-10 visibility was too hard to pass up. DUAL and i talked about doing this together but it didn't work out. i really could have used his letter help.

after talking for some time but never getting it together we did finally get something going.

i don't like most 'street art'. i think it's boring and predictable and repetitive. but i really like the direction that DUAL is coming from and i think his work stands out from the crowd. i'm glad we got to hook this up and hope we can again in the future.

and some other shit from along the way

got things coming up in MARFA and NEW YORK in the near future. more on that soon.

click on any image to enlarge.

recent press/ure

the fatality of technology. with all it's inherent holes. click click click click counting keystrokes of things immaterial. but i'm caught in internet relevance. some of this may have been a little long in coming.

'harvest in solstice' show opening featured in ENVY magazine.

couple of give up pics in the newest issue of CASE

...which also has a really good interview with DUAL. if you're not familiar with his work - www.dualstreets.com

houston press announcement for the aerosol warfare gallery show

got an early copy of CLERK FLUID'S new book. over 300 pages of his writings from glasstire.com as well as other musings on art and the workings of the art industry. this is the most bitter, cynical, stabbing, hilarious, and true commentary on art and the art community i've ever seen. if you can get a copy, well worth the read.

and i'm not just saying that because of the BGPs in one of the random urban landscape photos that are scattered throughout the book.

visited the new DOMY bookstore and gallery in austin. they should be open for business by the time this hits the screen. on cesar chavez just east of 35.

a lot bigger than the houston space, and with a gallery specific room for installations, etc. copies of the 'lonely days and wasted nights' book should be available at both the houston and new austin locations. www.domystore.com

more graphic design type work. but something i couldn't not do. it's been a good run guys. a lot of good years, good times. a lot of roads traveled. the last recordings WILL TO LIVE did were definitely the hardest and heaviest of their career. hopefully they'll see the light of day posthumously. until then www.spookcityusa.com or myspace.com/willtolivehc

25 of these 11x17 prints on heavy card will be available at the show.
